Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning said on Monday that Beijing supports the Cuban authorities in defending their sovereignty and calls on the United States to stop pressuring Havana.
Elchi.az reports that Mao Ning also said that the US should do more to maintain peace and stability in Central America.
“China firmly supports Cuba in defending its national sovereignty and security and opposes foreign interference, and calls on the US to immediately end the blockade, sanctions and any form of pressure against Cuba,” the diplomat said.
On Sunday, US President Donald Trump advised Cuba to cooperate with Washington before it is too late. In addition, the American leader declared that “no more oil or money will go” to Cuba, which has been receiving large amounts of oil and money from Venezuela for many years.
In response, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel stated that the country is ready to continue resisting US aggression.
