– Gudrat bey, what do you think, will the US occupy Greenland? It is said that he gave instructions regarding preparations for the occupation.
-You know, although the US plays a big role in the globalization of modern culture and lifestyle, enlightenment, industrial revolution, democracy, human rights, rule of law, modern science and art were formed in Europe. In particular, France, England and Germany are the countries that laid the foundation of modern cultural values. What is happening in world politics today is related to the erosion of universal values and the decrease in Europe’s role in solving international issues. The tragedy is also that, as a NATO member, instead of defending another member state, the US says that China and Russia can occupy you, so I am occupying it myself. There is no shame left in international relations. If France, Germany and Britain act from a unified position in world politics and international security issues and are not afraid of war threats, they can prevent more destructive wars, including the occupation of Greenland. The European Union must explain to the US that just as Russia occupied Crimea without firing a bullet, you will not be able to occupy Greenland either. If Denmark does not show armed resistance, the US will occupy those territories. What makes the situation worse is that the US opposition and the people do not seriously react to the occupation. If Trump sees that tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands of people will die in the war, he may hesitate. If Denmark wants to protect its lands, it must fight. Denmark should appeal to the US people, Congress, and NATO. Its European allies in NATO must demonstrate that they will fight together with Denmark. But none of these exist and most likely, probably, will not. Therefore, Trump does not hesitate, he considers Europe not as a worthy ally, but only as a rich market.
– Is there another force in the world that can stop Trump right now?
– Russia could have done it, but they are also engaged in occupation like the US. Trump gets strength from Putin. He says that neither international law nor Congress can stop me, only my conscience can stop me. Macron understands the difficulty of defending Europe without Russia, and I think that is why he wants to talk to Putin. But it’s too late, it won’t work. It is possible that everything was agreed in advance between Putin and Trump. The three major European countries I mentioned above, the 450 million-strong European Union, must believe in themselves and pursue a more courageous policy, and develop the military industry. EU members who do not act from a unified position on security issues should be expelled from the Union immediately. Now is the time to make quick and serious decisions.
