US State Department delegation arrives in Caracas

A delegation from the US State Department visited Venezuela for the first time since the removal of President Nicolas Maduro on January 9.

Elchi.az reports that this was reported by CNN, citing a US official.

According to available information, a US State Department-owned Dash 8-300 aircraft landed in Caracas. The visit took place against the background of the US intention to restore the activities of its embassy in Caracas.

The source emphasized that employees of the US Venezuela Affairs Unit located in Colombia, as well as US Ambassador to Colombia John McNamara, arrived in Caracas to initially assess the possibilities of a phased restoration of the embassy.
