Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has stated that it is time for the European Union (EU) to restore direct dialogue with Moscow, as in this case, the EU will have the opportunity to influence negotiations on ending the Russia-Ukraine war.
Elchi.az reports with reference to the Italian publication “ANSA” that she stated this at a press conference on January 9.
Meloni supported French President Emmanuel Macron’s opinion on the need for direct dialogue with Russia.
“In this regard, I think Macron is right. I think it’s time for Europe to talk to Russia, otherwise our opportunities for influence will be limited. But the question is, who should do it? We must not act chaotically – otherwise, we will play into the hands of Russian President Vladimir Putin,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
