Macron: US foreign policy under Trump deviates from international rules.
Elchi.az reports that French President Emmanuel Macron has sharply condemned US foreign policy under Donald Trump, saying Washington is “deviating from international rules” and the world risks becoming a “den of thieves.” This was reported by The Guardian newspaper.
Macron said that “the US is already a formed power, but is gradually moving away from some of its allies and is freed from the international rules that it has promoted until recently.”
According to him, “multilateral institutions are becoming less and less effective” and there is “a real temptation” for large states “to divide the world.” He assured that Paris “rejects neo-colonialism and neo-imperialism, as well as vassalage and defeatism.” As noted in the article, Macron did not directly touch on this, but referred to Washington’s actions in Venezuela, as well as Trump’s rhetoric regarding the acquisition of Greenland.
Earlier, US Vice President J.D. Vance said that European leaders should take US President Donald Trump’s comments about Greenland seriously. According to Vensin, “enemy enemies” are showing increasing interest in the region. He also clarified that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio intends to discuss these issues with the leadership of Denmark and Greenland next week.
