EU countries vote to sign free trade agreement with MERCOSUR

European Union (EU) member states have voted to sign a free trade agreement with the South American MERCOSUR bloc, despite protests from farmers across the continent.

Elchi.az reports that this was announced to journalists by the representative of Cyprus in the EU Council.

“EU countries have approved the signing of the agreement,” he said.

The vote was carried out through a written procedure that lasted from 08:00 to 16:00 local time (11:00 to 19:00 Baku time).

Earlier it was reported that the heads of diplomatic missions of EU countries supported the free trade agreement with MERCOSUR.
