The World Health Organization (WHO) summit will be held in Lyon this April.
According to Elchi.az, this was stated by French President Emmanuel Macron at a meeting with French ambassadors at the Elysee Palace.
“Strengthening the WHO at a time when it is under pressure and threats, as well as uniting the target funds of all countries at the summit to be held in Lyon in April, will be a key point in defending effective multilateral cooperation,” he said.
Macron emphasized France’s intention to pay special attention to health issues on the international agenda.
In 2025, US President Donald Trump announced that his country would withdraw from a number of organizations within the UN system, including the WHO, UNESCO, the UN Human Rights Council, and the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), and would stop funding them.
