Fidan calls Kurdish actions an obstacle to peace

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that the position of the Kurdish coalition “Syrian Democratic Forces” (SDF) hinders the normalization of the situation and that it must abandon this policy.

Elchi.az reports that he made the statement at a press conference in Ankara after a meeting with his Omani counterpart, Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Al-Busaidi.
“Turkey hopes for an agreement between the SDF and Damascus that takes into account the characteristics of the region and ensures stability in Syria. On the other hand, attacks against civilians in Aleppo have unfortunately confirmed concerns about the SDF’s true intentions and undermined peace efforts. In the current situation, the SDF must abandon its uncompromising position, as it is the biggest obstacle to achieving peace and contradicts the realities of Syria and our region. The SDF must put an end to terrorism and separatism,” Fidan said.
