KTM: 1188 poisoned, 46 died last year

A total of 1188 people were admitted to the Toxicology Department of the Clinical Medical Center due to poisoning last year.

The Clinical Medical Center’s Toxicology Department told Elchi.az about this.

It was reported that as a result of timely and correct treatment measures, the condition of 1142 patients was stabilized and they were discharged home in satisfactory condition for outpatient treatment:

“495 of the patients were treated with drugs, 1 with rat poison (rodenticide), 1 with insecticide, 352 with acetic acid,
8 with solvents, 12 with caustic solutions, 1 with chemical solutions, 65 with allergic reactions, 40 with phosphorus organic compounds, 18 with anaphylactic shock, 13 with smoke, 66 with carbon monoxide, 78 with snake bites, 1 with petroleum solution, 5 with wild plants, 6 with insect bites, 22 with alcoholic beverages, and 4 with inhalation poisoning.

Specialized toxicological and resuscitation care, as well as intensive care and detoxification measures, were applied to all patients by medical personnel.

Despite the intensive treatment measures, unfortunately, it was not possible to save the lives of 46 people (32 men and 14 women).

The main causes of death were toxic conditions caused by drug and acetic acid poisoning,” the report said.
