German Chancellor Friedrich Merz considers the situation in some sectors of the German economy to be critical.
Elchi.az reports that he stated this in a letter addressed to Bundestag members from the CDU/CSU bloc and the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD).
The head of government noted that all the initiatives of the Cabinet of Ministers have not yet increased the competitiveness of the German economy, and the situation remains critical in some areas: “In this regard, in 2026 we will have to focus on making the right political and legislative decisions to fundamentally improve the situation.”
In the letter, the Chancellor also stated that the German authorities will allegedly continue to provide assistance to Kyiv, while making efforts to achieve a ceasefire: “At the same time, we are carrying out our diplomatic work in difficult conditions,” he emphasized.
