Following the detention of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro by the US, Maduro’s Vice President Delsi Rodriguez was sworn in at the National Assembly and officially began serving as interim president.
Elchi.az reports that a ceremony was held on the occasion of the start of the ordinary session of the Venezuelan National Assembly (AN).
At the ceremony, Jorge Rodriguez, President of the Venezuelan National Assembly, was re-elected as President of the Assembly.
Following the US air strikes on Venezuela and the subsequent detention of President Nicolas Maduro, his Vice President Delsi Rodriguez was sworn in at the National Assembly and officially began serving as interim president. In her speech, Delsi Rodriguez said: “I am here with a deep sense of sadness over the kidnapping of our two heroes, President Nicolas Maduro and (his wife) Cilia Flores, who are being held hostage in the United States.”
Rodriguez, who is serving as interim president, swore that she would work tirelessly to ensure the future of the Venezuelan people until her country reaches the level it deserves as a free and sovereign nation. Her brother and President of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodriguez, also announced on behalf of the National Assembly that Delsi Rodriguez had been elected “Interim President” by the Assembly.
Thus, Delsi Rodriguez became the first female president of Venezuela.
