Nine soldiers were killed in a landmine explosion in Borno State, northeastern Nigeria.
According to Elchi.az, the Nigerian army said that a mine planted on the Maiduguri-Gubio highway in Borno State exploded when a military vehicle passed by.
The statement said that nine soldiers were killed and many soldiers were injured in the explosion.
No one has claimed responsibility for the explosion, but it is known that the Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorist groups frequently carry out attacks in Borno.
Boko Haram, which has been operating in Nigeria since the early 2000s, is responsible for mass acts of violence that have caused the deaths of tens of thousands of people since 2009.
Since 2015, the organization has also carried out attacks in the country’s border countries, Cameroon, Chad and Niger.
