“Hyundai” factories introduce humanoid robots

South Korean automotive giant Hyundai Motor Group has announced that it will begin using humanoid robots in its factories worldwide starting in 2028. The robot, named Atlas and developed by Boston Dynamics, was presented at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.
Elchi.az reports that Hyundai plans to integrate Atlas into its entire global network, including its facility in Georgia, USA. Company officials stated that humanoid robots will initially perform physically demanding and dangerous tasks, eventually working autonomously with humans in more complex jobs.
Employment and technology investments
Hyundai Vice President Jaehoon Chang addressed concerns that robots would take jobs away from humans. Chang stated that human labor will still be needed in areas such as training and managing robots.
The company had previously announced that it would invest more than $20 billion in the US to support Donald Trump’s plans to increase production in the country. These investments include autonomous driving technologies and artificial intelligence research. In addition to Hyundai, giant companies such as Amazon, Tesla and the Chinese company BYD are also continuing their efforts to use humanoid robots in their operations.
Events at the factory in Georgia
The battery factory in Georgia, which is among the facilities where Atlas robots will be used, came to the fore in 2025 with a large-scale immigrant raid. During the operation, hundreds of workers, including 300 South Korean citizens, were detained, and the incident was met with great anger in South Korea. South Korean President Lee Jae-myung and Hyundai CEO Jose Munoz warned that such interventions could prevent foreign investment. After the crisis, the Washington and Seoul administrations reached an agreement on the release of the workers, and the White House reportedly told Hyundai management that it regretted the incident.
