Tokayev comments on Putin’s physical fitness

Tokayev: Putin demonstrated a judo move in Bishkek and defended the honor of the older generation.
Elchi.az reports that Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in an interview with the Turkistan newspaper, described Russian President Vladimir Putin’s move against a young judoka during his visit to Bishkek as “defending the honor of the older generation.”
The Kazakh leader answered a journalist’s question about which of the CIS leaders is involved in sports.
Tokayev and Putin visited Bishkek in November 2025. The Russian leader and other CIS leaders then participated in a meeting of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
Tokayev added that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is also “physically strong” and exercises regularly. Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov plays football, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is a cyclist, Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko plays hockey, and Tajik President Emomali Rahmon has naval training, the Kazakh President said.
