Mobilization and martial law declared in Venezuela

The Venezuelan authorities have announced mobilization in the army, as well as the introduction of martial law for oil industry workers and other enterprises.

Elchi.az reports that this was stated in the decree published on the legal acts portal.

“Mobilization of the armed forces throughout the country and the use of the existing national power potential to repel foreign aggression are being carried out. State infrastructure, the oil industry and other key state industries will be defended. The staff of such enterprises will be temporarily under military regime,” the document says.

The decree stipulates the strengthening of patrols and protection on the country’s land, air and sea borders. It is valid for 90 days from the date of publication. The document is dated January 3, and is signed by President Nicolas Maduro, the Vice President and members of the government.

It should be noted that the US special operation arrested Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Celia Flores. They appeared in court in New York today. The interim government of Venezuela demands the return of Maduro and his wife to the country.
