Heavy snow caused serious disruptions in transportation in Paris and surrounding areas on January 5.
Elchi.az reports with reference to La Liberte that due to snowfall in the evening and citizens going out on weekends, a record 900-kilometer traffic jam occurred on the highways of the French capital.
It was noted that bus traffic in Paris was suspended in the morning, and the country’s aviation companies reduced the number of flights.
“Airlines must reduce the number of flights by 15% on Monday at Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle and Paris-Orly airports. These measures are necessary for clearing runways of snow and processing aircraft to prevent icing,” French Transport Minister Philippe Tabarot emphasized at a press conference.
It should be noted that on January 5, heavy snow fell in the west of France, and then the same weather conditions caused significant disruptions in traffic in the Paris region.
