US President Donald Trump has signed an order banning a company run by a Chinese citizen from buying $2.9 million worth of chips from a US manufacturer, citing national security risks.
Elchi.az reports with reference to foreign media that this step is assessed as the next serious decision taken by the US government against the background of technological and strategic concerns related to China.
The US Treasury Department said that the supply of indium phosphide chips produced within the framework of Emcore’s digital chip business outside the US is considered a national security risk.
The Chinese side has left inquiries about the issue unanswered.
