US imposes sanctions on 10 individuals and companies in Venezuela and Iran

The US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has announced the imposition of sanctions against 10 individuals and legal entities located in Venezuela and Iran.

Elchi.az reports that this information is contained in a statement posted on the website of the US Treasury Department.

Under Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence John Hurley said that these measures are aimed at limiting access to the US financial system for those who support Iran’s military-industrial complex.

The new restrictions continue the agency’s policy of preventing the proliferation of weapons and support the decision to reimpose UN sanctions against Iran from September 27. Iran’s drone and missile production programs pose a threat to US personnel and their allies in the Middle East, and destabilize commercial shipping in the Red Sea. In addition, Iran’s supply of conventional weapons to Caracas threatens US interests in the Western Hemisphere.
