US President Donald Trump has said he discussed the disarmament of Hamas with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Elchi.az reports that this was reported by Sky News.
Trump noted that Hamas will be given a very short time to disarm. He added that otherwise they would pay a heavy price and argued that this was a necessary component of peace in the region.
Trump also said he hoped Iran would not try to strengthen its missile program again, as reported this week.
“If that happens, we will have no choice but to eradicate the root of this cluster very quickly. I hope Iran is not trying to increase its weapons and other resources, and if so, they will not use the facilities we destroyed, maybe they will use other facilities,” he added.
Trump noted that he knows what they are doing and says he does not want to spend a lot of fuel needed to send American bombers to the Middle East, as he did in June.
Netanyahu, in turn, thanked Trump for his support for Israel and praised his exceptional friendship.
“Thanks to our joint work, he has achieved remarkable results in the Middle East. Sometimes we have different opinions, but we find a common language, and in most cases our opinions coincide. It was a wonderful experience and the meeting was very, very productive,” Netanyahu stressed.
