Lukashenko pardoned 22 prisoners

On the eve of the New Year, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko signed a decree pardoning 22 people.

Elchi.az reports that the Telegram channel “Pool Pervy” (First Pool), which is subordinate to the president’s press service, reported this.

According to him, all of them appealed to the head of state for pardon, confessed their guilt and expressed regret. Twenty people were convicted of extremist crimes. 7 of those pardoned are men and 15 are women; 11 of them had minor children.

The pardon decision was made by the president for humanitarian reasons, in the interests of families, and taking into account the positive characteristics of the pardoned persons.

In mid-December, it became known that within the framework of agreements reached with US President Donald Trump, Lukashenko decided to pardon 123 citizens of various countries who were found guilty of espionage, terrorism and extremism.
