China has begun the “Joint Sword-2025” military exercise around Taiwan. The exercise, which includes a port blockade and the use of live ammunition, is in response to a $11.1 billion US arms sale.
Elchi.az reports that the People’s Republic of China has launched a large-scale military exercise called “Joint Sword-2025” in the waters surrounding Taiwan, with the participation of troops, warships, fighter jets and artillery units.
The exercise, which started today, involves the use of live ammunition, and the Taiwanese army has mobilized its troops against attack scenarios and demonstrated US-made defense systems.
The Eastern Theater Command of the Chinese army announced that forces were concentrated in the north and southwest of the Taiwan Strait.
According to Reuters, the Command stated that live fire was opened on land and sea targets and simulated attacks were carried out as part of the exercise.
The maneuvers, which are scheduled to continue tomorrow, reportedly include scenarios for blocking the island’s main ports and besieging Taiwan.
