Backup power supply to Zaporozhye NPP restored

The power supply to the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) via the reserve line “Ferrosplav-1” 330 kV has been restored.

Elchi.az reports with reference to “Interfax-Russia” that this was stated by representatives of the station.

“The work on restoring the communication line between the open switchgear of nuclear and thermal power plants at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant has been completed. The line was damaged as a result of shelling by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which led to the suspension of voltage supply to the station from the “Ferrosplav-1″ power transmission line,” the report says.

The suspension of electricity transmission to the station via the “Ferrosplav-1” line due to shelling became known on December 16. Repair work was carried out by specialists from Zaporozhye NPP and “Rosset” with the participation of inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency.

According to a representative of the Zaporozhye NPP, the repair work became possible after reaching relevant agreements on maintaining a ceasefire regime in the station area.

“The situation at the station is under full control. The radiation background is normal and corresponds to natural values,” the report emphasizes.
