The head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, has made a remarkable statement regarding the essence of possible negotiations with Russia.
Musavat.com reports that Budanov stated that if one of the parties is dictated terms and is forced to accept these terms, it is impossible to call it negotiations.
According to him, real negotiations are only possible on the basis of compromise: “If we say that we are dictated terms and we accept them, this is no longer negotiations, it is called something else. Negotiations are finding a compromise.”
Budanov emphasized that it is not about an easy or one-sided agreement. In his opinion, a possible compromise will be painful for both sides and will not please anyone: “This compromise will not be simple. It will not be pleasant or comfortable for either side. We are talking about non-standard, perhaps unexpected decisions. These decisions will not be easy to make.”
This statement by the head of Ukrainian intelligence is seen as a serious message about possible political processes and the difficulty of future negotiations against the backdrop of the Russia-Ukraine war.
